My favorite Springtime looks lately!

Happy Friday!! The weather in NY has been gorgeous - every day has been in the 70's and 80's and it's making me so excited for these summer months! One of my favorite things to do is put together some outfit inspirations - especially when I'm going shopping or looking to add some pieces to my wardrobe. To do so I fully utilize Polyvore because it's super easy to use, has tons and tons of products and is an easy way to profile all the creations you've made.
Today I wanted to share with you some of the looks I've been loving lately and link you guys to the details so you can purchase if you love any of these pieces as much as I do!

A season of wearing white!

I hope everyone had a lovely, long Memorial Day Weekend! I had a really fun weekend and we had some awesome weather which made it all the more fun! This time of year is when we're finally allowed to (acceptably) where white again! Even though this is just a silly old rule, I've never associated white with winter but I do love summer whites!! A white wool winter peacoat is gorgeous, but does anything really beat a white sundress with gorgeous and colorful accessories?!

 photo 050356ba-1600-4f0d-9867-38121bec811b_zpscblzxkps.jpg

Here's my list of do's and don'ts of wearing white this summer:

Do's:

Have lots of plain, white t shirts to pair and layer with - I wear white tee's so much and switch them out with new ones every few months!
Do wear white lace!! So classy, so timeless, so gorgeous!
White jeans, shorts and dresses are all gorgeous for summer to be paired with a colorful top or bottom!
Pair white with colorful accessories. Turquoise sandals or pink earrings will make the white you're wearing pop!
Do dress white up - while a LBD is essential for a wardrobe, a LWD is just as gorgeous! Whether it's a skater dress or maxi dress, this can be dressed up or down and perfect for summer.

Dont's:

Before buying your white shirt, pants, dress, skirt etc. make sure that the white isn't too see through and thin! I've seen my fair share of white-gone-wrong and trust me you do not want to be a part of that club!
Make sure that your white clothing isn't too tight - trust me, not a good look either!

White is a classy color that looks beautiful, so make sure your white piece makes you feel comfortable and pretty!
Here's some of my favorite white pieces for this summer:

Tops:

Bottoms:

Dresses:

Bags, and accessories:

Shoes:

Colorful accessories to pair with white:

Are there any white clothes or accessories you're loving for the summer?

Tiered Cake Stands and their many uses!

Tiered stands were originally made to display cakes, cupcakes, desserts and other foods for parties. Over the past few months in the midst of redecorating, I wanted to have a better way to display my nicer bottled perfumes. Rather than displaying them boringly on a shelf or throwing them on my dresser I found a way more exciting and beautiful way to display these perfume bottles!
Here's my perfume display:

 photo a3a4f118-43c0-4b75-8167-53e7888edd79_zpscchvwacs.png

There's so many different types of trays - color, material, size, finish, etc. and choosing your tiered tray really depends on what you're looking for. These trays are also usually a bit pricey and it took me a while to pick the perfect one because I didn't want to get a cheap looking one (which seemed to be the only affordable choices) but also didn't want to spend a fortune on a tray like this. I endlessly searched for months until finding the one I purchased on Joss and Main. Granted it was a bit more than I was looking to pay, but I'm SO happy with it and it was definitely worth the money! My mom also made me realize that this is something I'll likely have for a while - and when in my own home, it's a piece that I can use for other intentions also (like displaying food for parties as it's really meant for!)

{Trending} Tassels, tassels everywhere!

All I've been seeing lately on clothing, accessories and even decor are tassels and fringe! I think these little tassel/fringe details are so cute and super summery too! Whether on a cute kimono like this one or a cute pair of statement earrings like these, little details can really make an outfit. Here's some of my favorite pieces I've seen:

 photo tassels are trending_zpsck1xxbgk.png
Fringe Kimono// Tassel drop earrings// Tassel scarf// Beaded tassel cuff// Striped tassel clutch// Black tassel tshirt// Striped tassel dress// Straw tote// Beaded tassel necklace

The best part of tassel and fringe details? They usually are bright and colorful! I'm obsessed with tassel jewelry - especially this gorgeous necklace for more dressy occasions or something more casual like this stack of colorful tassel bracelets!
I also love tassel and fringe on a cute clutch! This YSL clutch is beyond gorgeous with the little tassel accent but if you're looking for something more affordable, here's a cute patterned tassel clutch!

Check out some more of my favorite tassel and fringe details:

Are there any trends you're loving? Or other tassel detailed products you've had your eye on? I'd love to hear about them!!

Coffee Table Accessories: How to style your coffee table!

Decorating your coffee table or even side table can often times bring such character to a room. There's nothing better than having a coffee table that's filled with pretty accessories and decor - rather than a dull empty space that's just used to hold drinks!

 photo 857c4a42-9e00-4242-9eb4-6675887b9cbd_zpsbdt5ermc.png
Jupiter Bowl// Metal lanterns// Vodka pop candle// Diamond paperweight// Tealight candles// Decorative silver boxes// Silver frame// Black table tray// Canister set// Silver sphere// Silver candle holder// Chanel coffee table books

I think it's super important to have a nicely styled coffee table - and using lots of different shaped decor can help you do so! There's four important elements that should be a part of every coffee table:
1. An odd shaped object: having something like a piece of decorative coral, a pretty spherical object like this one or a pretty glass knot like this one are all pieces that stand out on a coffee table!
2. Fresh flowers: I always have fresh flowers somewhere in my house. Not only do they make any room smell fresh and pretty but they give a pop of color too! During this time of year I love having pretty peonies or hydrangeas to display.
3. Something tall: hurricane vases and candle holders are gorgeous to display on a coffee table since they're tall - they also make a room sparkle if you light a candle in one of these vases! I just purchased this hurricane vase for my table!
4. Coffee table books: when I first discovered that home decor stores and websites actually sold books for decoration, I was beside myself! My favorite decor piece for any room is having a stack of fashion/design books with some pretty flowers on top of the stack. The prettier the books, the prettier the room looks! Some of my favorites are Chanel, Dior, The Iconic Interior, The Fashion Book and The Vera Wang of Weddings. There's tons of designers who have these kinds of books - and you can even go into Barnes and Noble or your local book store to find any book of your choice as well!

Similar to any other area of your home, it's important not to rush the process of decorating your coffee table to your liking. Find the pieces you love; books you'll read (to justify some of the pricetags), scented candles that you'll actually want to light and pieces you'll want to display to your friends and family. It's also important to know what style you have going for your space. For example, classy and feminine, splashes of color or neutral and nautical.

Here's some more of my favorite coffee table decorative pieces:

Some of my favorite coffee tables:

I hope if you're looking to style your coffee table, these ideas and accessories help you! You can also check out my Pinterest board of my favorite coffee tables!
Are there any accessories you've found and love to style your coffee table? I would love to hear about them!

Last Minute DIY Mother's Day Gifts!

 photo 47e22ce7-ee18-4835-b848-83ccc21ff449_zpsyscepgjf.png

Happy Thursday everyone! With Mother’s Day being this Sunday, I’ve been on the hunt for the past week or so on what to get my mom. It’s super hard because her birthday is just three weeks after Mother’s Day, so I decided to get a pretty basket and fill it with things that way she has smaller (but more) things to open. For the basket I got her two pretty shirts, perfume, a framed picture of her children, a gift card to a foot spa, a nice set of wine glasses and a couple stacking bracelets. When I realized I wanted to have another item for the basket, I thought it would be a good idea to find an awesome DIY project!
To come up with some exciting DIY projects I teamed up with Chantal from Painted Tea Cup who runs an amazing blog all about essential oils which have been proven time and time again to seriously improve your overall well-being! Chantal is such a sweetheart and I’m so happy we were able to team up to bring you this awesome post! Be sure to check out Painted Tea Cup and definitely consider trying essential oils!!
P.S. here's some more ways to meet Chantal on social media: Facebook + Pinterest

My Mother’s Day DIY gifts:

DIY quick and easy bath bombs
There is no better way to end a long day or enjoy a night to yourself than taking a bath with an amazing scented bath bomb filled bath!
1. Get your ingredients together: Bath bombs come in tons of variations – different shapes, colors, smells, etc. so depending on your favorites, your recipes to make your own will vary a bit, but here’s my favorite recipe that I tried:
8 oz. of baking soda
4 oz. corn starch
4 oz. fine Epsom salt
4 oz. of citric acid
2 tsp. of almond oil (or any essential oil that you may like!)
1 tsp. of water
3-6 drops of food coloring of your choice

You can use any kind of mold that you may have to make these bath bombs – ice cube trays, muffin tins, circle mold, etc. One of my favorite tricks to make these is using plastic Easter eggs!
My favorite types of scents to include are lavender, grapefruit or citrus.
2. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and stir – corn starch, Epsom salt, baking soda and citric acid
3. Combine the wet ingredients in a bowl and stir – water, oil/scent, almond oil, food coloring
4. Mix dry and wet ingredients together until it starts to thicken together
5. Separate the mixture and pour into the mold you chose. Be sure to pack it in tightly for best results!
6. Let the bath bombs dry completely. This will probably take 10 minutes until you can remove the bombs from the mold. Be super careful taking them out since they’re still fragile! It’s best to place them on wax paper on a soft surface (so they don’t roll) and leave them for a day if possible.
You can wrap these adorable bath bombs up and I guarantee the special woman/women in your life will love them!

Homemade Air Fresheners
I always have a pretty scented air freshener opened at home – especially during this time of year! They can give such a fresh feel to any room and they’re fun to collect too! I usually buy mine, but I thought making some especially for Mother’s Day would be an awesome DIY gift idea!
What you’ll need:
Baking soda
Mini mason jar(s) depending on what size you want yours to be, I use mini mason jars (can be found at Michael’s!)
Any scented essential oil of your choice (8-12 drops)
Decorative paper
Ribbon
Scent label

1. Fill your jar about halfway with baking soda and add 8-12 drops of your choice of essential oil
2. Lightly mix together (it can be shaken up every few days to revive the scent
3. You can then wrap the jar with ribbon, a scent label, gift tag, etc of your choice!
This DIY is super simple and goes such a long way! I love making these especially since they can be customized so much!

DIY Tiered Tray
I absolutely LOVE tiered trays for more than dessert/food displays. I have one in my room for perfume, one in my bathroom, one in the kitchen, and I think they make a great DIY project! I wish I learned this DIY before buying the one in my bedroom – because these trays do not come cheap! On the other hand, making one yourself is super inexpensive and can look so gorgeous!
Here’s what you’ll need:
2 or 3 crystal/colored candle stick holders – (can be bought in the dollar store/Michael’s)
Metal trays or glass dishes
Paint color of your choice
Super glue
1. Paint the trays/plates and let them dry fully – depending on the color you chose will determine how many coats will cover it fully, but I’ve found that two coats usually works!
2. Glue the candle sticks in between the plates
Voila! You’re done! I love this idea – think about where you can have who you’re giving this gift to put it in their home. That way you can consider room colors and paint the trays in a color that matches! So super easy and so much fun to make!

DIY gifts made by Chantal:

DIY Essential Oil Lip Scrub
This is one of my must haves, I make and use it frequently. This scrub is great for those with chapped lips but also for people who want to keep their lips feels soft — mom will love it!
What you need:
Brown Sugar
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Essential oil of your choice
A glass container with a lid - I found mine at Dollarama for $1
Combine 3 tablespoons of brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Stir and add 2-3 drops of an essential oil of your choice. I chose to use wild orange but you could also use another citrus oil, lavender peppermint, or frankincense. Stir one more time and voila, you are done!

DIY Essential Oil Bath Salts
What you'll need:
Epsom salts
A glass container with an air tight lid (mason jar, spaghetti sauce jar, etc.)
Mixing Bowl
Essential Oil of your choice
First, pour the Epsom salt into the jar - now you know how much will fit in the jar! Dump the salt from the jar and into a mixing bowl. Add 8-10 drops of your favorite essential oil in the bowl. I chose lavender (relaxation) but you could also choose a citrus oil (uplifting/detoxifying), a calming blend (relaxation), Wintergreen or a soothing blend for pain. Mix the Epsom salts and oil together. Stir thoroughly making sure there are no clumps. Now pour the salts in the jar and voila, mom is ready to have an essential oil infused bath! Note: the jar I made should be enough for about 2 baths.

Tips and Tricks: Making a mood board!

 photo df354e14-3afa-429d-887a-13ab569d3413_zpsr9nhfka0.png

For as long as I've been on Pinterest and pinning things (such as my dream wedding), I've been obsessed with the idea of mood boards. I've always thought they were mostly just for fun or for a bride-to-be planning her wedding, but turns out making a mood board is super useful for more than you would think! They're great to make for redoing a room, planning a party, looking for new clothing/accessories and for graphic and interior designers!

Start your search

For 99.9% of my mood boards, I find my pictures on Pinterest. I usually create a color scheme that I like and then search for those colors either individually or all together (for example, "pink purple and gold"). It's also fun to look through your home feed and see if you can create a mood board based on one picture you really like!

Have a system

Whether you create a Pinterest board or save pictures to a folder on your computer, having yourself organized will go a long way when you go to sit down and create your board. I have boards on Pinterest to stay organized with my inspiration pins - then once I go to make a board I save the pictures into a folder on my laptop to have them handy for Photoshop!

See a pattern?

Once you have a nice set of pictures you want to make a mood board with, look at them all and see if you're noticing a pattern. For example, lots of pink and purple patterns or your pictures all having blue tones in them. From here you can likely start a board with that theme - and even use those colors/patterns/theme as a search to find more pictures for said board!

Putting it all together

There's lots of programs and ways to make a mood board - I've seen tutorials written on how to make one all the way from Pinterest to Photoshop. I use Photoshop to make my mood boards, but there's other easier ways you can utilize! Another form of mood board I love making and use for a lot of my posts is by using Polyvore! This is more if you're making a fashion or home decor board, but it has some awesome features that really can work to your advantage, especially if you're looking for something easier to use than Photoshop!

Here's some of my favorite mood boards I've made lately:

 photo d1bb5192-0562-43d1-a51f-c91926d21022_zpskddsolfg.png

I've found creating these mood boards super inspiring and also extremely fun! Since I'm hoping to create website designs in the near future (fingers crossed!) I'll likely be working quite a bit with mood/inspiration boards!
Although I'm no where near ready to begin my webpage design business, I would love to help you put together a mood board for any reason - a party, room inspiration or just for fun to get you started - I'm here to help!

Summer concert must haves!

Happy Friday!! Is anyone else as excited that it's the weekend as I am?! Also, how do you guys like my new blog design?!
Every summer one of my favorite things to do is go to concerts. Nothing says summer more to me than booking yourself to go to as many concerts as possible! Whether it's a music festival that's outside in the sun all day or a concert in a more formal stadium/arena at night, I wanted to share my basic, go-to concert look with you guys!

 photo e6905834-f85e-4a96-aa2c-1fe7877e2b19_zpsvze1wysc.png
Straw tote// Sunnies// Elizabeth Arden SPF foundation// Alex & Ani endless knot bracelet// Alex & Ani beaded bangle// Kendra Scott Jana bracelet// Tory Burch Chandler sandal// Pineapple iPhone case// Kate Spade card case

When going to a concert, depending on the venue I either like to have a bigger tote like this adorable mar Y sol one to hold all of my stuff in - or not have to worry about a big bag and just keep credit cards and my ID in a smaller card case like this one.
I also LOVE having a good arm party going on no matter what the occasion - so stacking bangles like it's nobodies business is my go to accessory at all times! (some bangles I'm obsessing over now can be found here, here and here!)

You can check some more of my favorite summer concert accessories here:

P.S. Macy's is having their Friends and Family sale now through May 4th with promo code FRIEND
Happy shopping!!
