As a millennial, I know that we have very different taste (in more ways than one) than other generations and age groups. It's interesting to see the differences, and I think it's safe to say we have a very distinct taste in decorating too. Here's some trends/tips to decorate your home as a millennial:

Have an accent wall

Even if you're working with a small space, having an accent wall makes the room stand out in the funnest, prettiest way! I LOVE this teal wall - so much pop!

Utilize multi-functional storage

Having a clean, crisp look is very trendy (but besides the trend, who doesn't love that?) and finding any place to double as storage is a great way to get that look. The wicker basket shown above (#14) is a great use of storage while doubling as decor.

Use Instagrammable decor

Does it have to be trendy? No, but you have to love it! Instagram is where we share photos that we're proud of; make your home something you're proud enough of to be Insta-worthy!

Have a section to entertain in

We're young, we love to have friends and family over, entertain and show off our style. I think it's so important to have a dedicated space to entertain in/with; you'll get so much use out of it! A cute bar/bar cart (looove this dreamy bar cart set up!) and indoor/outdoor entertaining pieces will go a long way and give your friends something to talk about. ;)

Be bold, colorful and show your style off

Style evolves and trends change, but when you're young there's no better time to be bold with your decor and embellish your home with pieces you love!


Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Home Decor Favorites for Millennials:
1. Gold Bar Cart: when the Nordstrom sale went live early Thursday morning, this was the very first piece that caught my eye! It's $149 and it's a great size; it'll fit in small spaces but still fits a lot - it's an entertaining MUST have!

2. Embellished Throw Pillow: I tend to switch my throw pillows out seasonally, and I haven't seen a pretty one like this at such a great price! The embellishment and shape is great to mix and match others with too.

3. Gold and Marble Mini Mirror: PSA, this is $12.90!! It's a great sized mirror to put on your vanity or on your dresser, and there's a whole set if you're looking to re-do your bathroom.

4. Chanel Bags Wall Print: I LOVE Oliver Gal wall prints. Love, love, love. Home Goods often has a lot of Oliver Gal pieces and I'm guilty of buying my favorites and having them sit in my closet because I've run out of wall space... #oops But since these are the newer pieces, the sale prices are incredible! Some of them are a bit out there but they're SO pretty and colorful. Here's a whole bunch of my very favorite prints on sale right now:

5. Printed Recipe Box: when you first see a recipe box, you're probably thinking - why would I need a recipe box when I can just Google all of my recipes? Valid point - I thought the same - but I have a lot of recipe cards that were my grandmas that I love to use, and Google is great but if there's a recipe you make a lot it's nice to have it at ease!

6. Gold Wall Mirror: mirrors are a great way to fill wall space or to add to a gallery wall! So many great mirrors in this sale!

7. Pineapple Wine Cooler: another entertaining must have! This has been around for a few seasons but now that it's on sale, I think it's a justifiable must have. ;)

8. 2018 Planner: it's never too early to plan ahead, and you really can't ever have too many planners! I use two print planners plus my Google Calendar - this is a great sized planner to travel with and a great time to buy and get ahead.

9. Copper Wine Rack: every millennial needs a pretty wine rack in their house if you ask me! ;) It's normally $50 and on sale for $32 - copper is another one of those materials (like marble) that can be pricey; you'll love this one!

10. Marble Tray/Lazy Susan: I saw this in Nordstrom the other day and I fell in love with how pretty it is. It spins so you can center it on a dinner table and use it as a Lazy Susan, and display it as a tray in your dining room/kitchen or even living room when it isn't in use. Marble pieces are expensive - grab this while it lasts!

11. Monogrammed Jewelry Box: as you start to collect nicer pieces of jewelry as you get older, keeping it separate from your costume jewelry reduces the risk of tangles, risking losing anything and it's easier to find things. If you haven't noticed, I LOVE to organize anything and everything, LOL. This also makes for a great gift - now is the time to stock up on gifts because this sale is too good to be true. The monogrammed touch is beautiful too!

12. Diptyque Candle Set: I included these in my first-look favorites from the Nordstrom Sale and I'm so happy I grabbed them when I did! These candles fill the room with the most beautiful scent and this is a great deal for these candles!

13. Printed Wine Tumblers: does it get any cuter?! Grab a set (or three!) of these - the price can't be beat and they're great for entertaining!

14. Straw Basket: a lot of these wicker/woven straw baskets are expensive; I can't believe how affordable this one is! It's great to use as decorative storage to store blankets and things you want to hide in your living room, bedroom or even to use as a hamper.

15. Blue/White Printed Area Rug: the Nordstrom Sale is probably THE best time of year to buy a new rug! They can be extremely expensive, and unless you go to Home Goods or wait for a sale like this you'll end up spending a fortune. You can shop all of the gorgeous rugs on sale here; pages and pages of beautiful-ness. ;) I bought this tan and cream colored rug to put in my upstairs hallway, it's neutral but beautiful!
