Best Versatile Basics to Buy at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is of course a great time to get brand new merchandise at a sale price, but it's also one of my FAVORITE sales to get some new, versatile, basic pieces from - the ones you'll wear a ton, get a lot of use out of and even some that you'll have for a long time. Basic, Versatile Tees:
This sale has sooo many great simple tops and tees that you can wear alone, under a cardigan or jacket or sweatshirt or anything else. I will say - if you're going for some simple t-shirts, I 100% recommend the Caslon branded tees (over the BP ones, for example). The quality is so good and they fit and lay really well. Here's some more basic tees to consider from the sale:

Sweaters & Blouses:
Like I've said over and over again, I hate even thinking about sweaters and such this early in the summer, but since the Anniversary Sale is all new merchandise, it's worth thinking about for a couple of minutes to stock up on next-season faves! The sweaters are always top notch during this sale, but I was skeptical originally about some of them possibly feeling really itchy. I tried a bunch on so I'm only going to share the soft ones, ones that fit well and ones that are not at ALL itchy (big pet peeve of mine if you couldn't tell!) and some simple blousy tops that you could easily dress down for everyday wear or dress up for dinner, an event/party or even work:

Cardigans:
Similar to there being so many amazing sweaters, there's always a TON of cardigans to pick from during the sale. The ones that fit the best and are the cutest:

Classic Bottoms:
One of the pieces of clothing I'll always pay a little bit more for is a great pair of denim. I'm a sucker for a good pair of jeans that fits well, is super flattering and that are COMFY. Leggings are also a versatile basic, so I of course included some of them too:

Dresses & Jumpsuits:
I have a couple of fall weddings this year so I was on the hunt for a few good dresses that I'd get a lot of use out of - AKA ones I can wear for events, weddings or even to a nice dinner in. I love finding dresses I know I'll wear time and time again! Also can never resist a good jumpsuit, so I linked some of my favorites from the sale here too:

Shoes:
In all honesty, I wasn't *too* impressed with the shoes selection during this year's sale. That being said, there are a couple of really really good options and neutral/versatile pairs that you should add to your closet if you're looking for some new ones:

Outerwear:
I splurged on a couple of coats this year and I'm so happy I did! I had some high hopes for a couple of coats that I tried on and didn't love, but here's the ones that made the cut (and the ones I'm still considering getting... lol SOS):

Accessories:
Another category of the sale that I wasn't extremely impressed with, but found a few hidden gems in! Most especially the jewelry - love a good layering necklace or new bracelet/pair of earrings! Here's a few good quality, affordable accessories:
